Five straight touchdown drives for the San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have now scored a touchdown on five consecutive drives. That is tied for the longest consecutive touchdown drive streak in the 2023 campaign and the longest since the 2019 season when Baltimore scored touchdowns on six straight drives versus Miami in Week 12.

Make it five in a row for the 49ers
Since those opening two three-and-outs, the 49ers offense has been unstoppable. Brock Purdy and Jauan Jennings are the latest to hook up for an 18-yard touchdown and this one is close to getting out of hand, with the 49ers leading 35-13 with 10:43 to play. San Francisco has scored touchdown on five straight possessions.
A tale of two halves
Updating the yards differential. After three quarters, the 49ers have outgained the Eagles 349 to 209. Reminder: The advantage was once Philadelphia 128, San Francisco minus -6.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is in the medical tent
Backup Marcus Mariota is taking snaps with starting center Jason Kelce on the sideline. Hurts just exited the medical tent and jogged into the locker room.
Three MVP candidates in this game
Jalen Hurts, Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey, who is up to 120 total yards after that run.
Deebo Samuel through air and on ground
Deebo Samuel now has a 48-yard touchdown catch to go along with his 12-yard rushing score earlier in the quarter.
It’s Samuel’s second career game with TDs via reception and rush and first since week 10 of 2021 against the Rams.

Four straight drives with a touchdown for San Francisco offense
The 49ers offense has now scored a touchdown on four straight drives and thus has shown that this platoon is still dominating the Eagles defense.
Posting touchdowns on four consecutive drives has been very rare this year, as this is only the fourth time that it has happened. Only one team in the 2023 season has achieved this on five consecutive drives, which happened in Week 10 when the Chargers did this against Detroit.
The 49ers offense is electric right now
If the Dre Greenlaw-Dom DiSandro ejections momentarily delivered momentum to the Eagles, the 49ers have stolen it right back with a 48-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy to Deebo Samuel. The five-play, 77-yard drive has the 49ers back on top 28-13.
Purdy hit Brandon Aiyuk earlier in the drive to convert on third down and, following a 16-yard run by Christian McCaffrey, Purdy hit Samuel over the middle and he broke one tackle right after the catch before powering through a Darius Slay tackle attempt near the goal line for the touchdown. The 49ers have scored touchdowns on four straight possessions.
Eagles respond to bully ball with bully ball
The San Francisco 49ers have made it clear that they think they are the tougher team, both before and during the game, as they have aimed to impose their will on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Nick Sirianni’s club really hasn’t responded well to that this season, as the team has been leaning far too pass-centric to physically dominate a game, but Dre Greenlaw’s punch to Eagles security officer Dom DiSandro seems to have changed that, as Philadelphia’s offense got fired up and drove to the Jalen Hurts touchdown.
Now let’s see if that energy carries over the Eagles' defense, as they have allowed San Francisco to score touchdowns on three straight drives.
Who is 'Big Dom' DiSandro?
Quick background on Eagles staffer Dom DiSandro who was just ejected:
- Eagles senior advisor to the GM/chief security officer
- Originally joined Eagles in 1999 (25th season with the franchise)
- “Oversees all safety and security matters for players, coaches, and executives” per team website
Eagles shove their way into the end zone
Eagles cut into the 49ers’ lead on a 1-yard “tush push” sneak TD by Jalen Hurts.
Hurts has rushed for a touchdown in four straight and seven of the last eight games.

A crazy sequence
Eagles chief security officer Dom DiSandro joins the 49ers' Dre Greenlaw as being ejected from the game following a scuffle on the sideline.
A big loss for the 49ers defense
Dre Greenlaw loses his cool on the sideline and gets tossed from the game. It will be Oren Burks at WLB from here on out.
Eagles facing their largest deficit since 2021
The Eagles’ current 15-point deficit is the largest they have faced since their wild card loss to the Buccaneers in the 2021 postseason.
Including the playoffs, Philly is 0-6 under Nick Sirianni in games it trailed by at least 15 points and it has lost 14 straight such games overall. The Eagles’ last win after trailing by 15 or more points came in Week 1 of 2019 against Washington (trailed 17-0, won 32-27).
Jalen Hurts has come from behind to win five straight games when facing a double-digit deficit. Philadelphia is trailing San Francisco by 15 points, 21-6, early in the third quarter.
The 49ers execute a lapping
After finishing off the first half with an 85-yard touchdown drive in the final minute that left the Eagles without any timeouts, the 49ers got the ball to start the second half and drive right down for another touchdown. That's 21 straight points for San Francisco — the latest coming on a 12-yard end around by Deebo Samuel — to take a 21-6 lead over Philadelphia.
The 49ers offense has found life
The 49ers awakened with a massive second quarter against the Eagles, out-gaining Philadelphia 173-21. San Francisco averaged 8.2 yards per play and the Eagles notched only 2.3 yards per play. This came on the heels of a first quarter during which the 49ers went three-and-out twice and saw Philadelphia whip their offensive line with an aggressive pass rush.
Establishing manageable down-and-distance was key for Brock Purdy and the 49ers offense, which has a clear edge whenever the Eagles can't pin their ears back and pass rush with reckless abandon. It's about scheming and playing around a disadvantage up front, and Kyle Shanahan and Purdy have done that for the 49ers so far. Philadelphia simply hasn't been able to cover the 49ers' bevy of skill-position star power downfield.

Good bounce back quarter for 49ers in fantasy scoring
The 49ers players posted some abysmal first-half fantasy numbers, but as might be expected from a big-play offense, things did a 180-degree turn in the second quarter, as four San Francisco players have now scored 9+ PPR points. These include Brandon Aiyuk (13.6), Brock Purdy (9.62), Christian McCaffrey (9.2) and George Kittle (9.0).
Eagles have played well from behind
The Eagles trail the 49ers at halftime but this hasn’t been a bad spot for Philly.
The Eagles entered the day 5-0 this season in games it trailed at halftime, the best such record and most such wins in the NFL.
